A group of rhythmic gymnasts from Caithness gave a dynamic performance as part of Scottish Gymfest weekend.

The team from Caithness Rhythmic – a section of Caithness Gymnastics Club – was among more than 50 attending the event at Ravenscraig sports centre in Motherwell.

The Caithness rhythmic gymnasts travelled to the festival with their coaches and two parents.

Gymfest is a celebration of display gymnastics. It gives an opportunity to see beyond purely competitive events and it shares the excitement of non-competitive gymnastics which is enjoyed by many gymnasts in clubs around the country.

The rhythmic gymnasts had trained hard for months, putting together a display routine to a medley of music that represented “Colours”. They performed the technically challenging and intricate routine to a full and very appreciative audience, using all five elements of rhythmic equipment – ball, clubs, hoops, ropes and ribbons – to spectacular effect.
