Vote for Thurso’s Highland Hospice and give the staff an early Christmas present
Highland Hospice in Thurso is in the running to be declared one of the UK’s best charity shops and now seeks your votes.
The Charity Retail Association received nearly 6500 nominations for charity shops across the UK and honed this down to a shortlist of six shops per region – now available for the public to vote on.
Highland Hospice on Thurso’s High Street is one of the six Scottish contenders and its manager, Susan Imlach, said: "Highland Hospice shop Thurso staff and volunteers are absolutely delighted to have made the shortlist for the UK’s favourite charity shop.
“We are extremely well supported within the county of Caithness and Sutherland with donations and customers.”
Susan added that the Thurso shop sells a huge variety of goods such as furniture, electrical, clothing, ornaments, records, books and much more.
“We are positive our community will come together and support us by giving us their vote for this prestigious charity award.
“We like to hold themed events during the year where we invite our customers and community to come together. Regularly at these events, we have complimentary home baking available for our customers as a thank-you for their continued loyal support.”
In October, the charity shop hosts a Halloween event where children can come in and enjoy fun activities. Then, in December, the staff hold the annual Christmas Fun Day with special visitors invited along.
