MEMBERS of Caithness Rhythmic Gymnastics were among 1500 gymnasts (61 teams in all) from all over the UK who displayed their talents and abilities to capacity audiences at the annual Scottish Gymfest in Irvine, Ayrshire.

The local gymnasts performed an exciting routine which showcased complicated and elaborate rhythmic skills needed to perform with the hoops, ropes, ribbons and clubs.

It was performed to a medley of songs from Irish band The Script and the routine was choreographed by assistant rhythmic coach Hanna Lalmahamode and rhythmic club coach Diane Gibson.

The Caithness group was one of only two rhythmic groups attending Scottish Gymfest this year.

Rhythmic coach Diane said: ‘All the gymnasts were brilliant.

“They have worked extremely hard over the past few months to make sure the routine was fantastic. They all work so well together as a team and we are extremely proud of them.”

The gymnasts and coaches all received a commemorative medal presented on the last day of the event, which was held earlier this month.
