Graham MacNab hit a hat-trick as Staxigoe United progressed to the last eight of Caithness AFA’s Colin Macleod Memorial Cup with a 3-0 victory over John O’Groats in midweek.

Staxigoe now go to Castletown on Saturday in the only quarter-final tie involving two first division sides.

Castletown came from behind to beat Lybster 2-1. Alan Steven scored for Lybster but goals from Connor Macleod and Michael Smith turned it round.

Halkirk, who won 4-0 at Watten, take on High Ormlie Hotspur, who beat Wick Thistle 3-0 at Ormlie.

On target for Halkirk were Alan Larnach, Ally Mackintosh and Owen Cannop, along with an own goal. Kuba Koziol struck twice and Mark Munro got the other for High Ormlie against the Jags.

Swifts edged out Top Joe’s 3-2.

Swifts led through Kian Mackay midway through the first half only for Kyran Alexander to equalise with a fine finish.

After the break Swifts went in front again with Mackay’s second of the night. Kevin MacGregor struck a fine equaliser shortly afterwards but Nigel Mackenzie’s late penalty won it for the home side.

Swifts’ opponents at the Dammies on Saturday are Pentland United, who received a bye.

Andy Hardwick, Liam Dykes and Kyle Innes got the goals in Acks’ 3-0 victory over Pentland. Acks now welcome Wick Groats in Friday’s quarter-final.
