The ladies and gents were in monthly medal action at Reay Golf Club, and some fierce winds and squally showers meant good scores were at a premium.

A record 34 golfers took part in the annual Mackays’ Golf Challenge in Wick, with the annual gathering of family and friends now in its 21st year.

Liam Mackay, Lewis Gow and Gavin Majilton fired birdies at the second, sixth, eighth, 13th and 16th on their way to a fantastic 68 for nett 58.

An excellent turnout at Reay Golf Club on Saturday saw 50 players competing on behalf of captain Carol Paterson and vice-captain Steve Efemey.

The men’s section at Reay competed for the McRobert Thistle Trophy, and a fantastic round of 72 for nett 64 saw Andy Bain take the honours.

Another busy week at Reay Golf Club saw action in the women’s, men’s and senior sections, including a Senior Stableford win for Graham Harness.

The Reay Golf Club men’s Winter Eclectic competition reached an exciting climax on Saturday with the sixth and final round played in fine conditions.

Round four of the Reay men’s Winter Eclectic was won by Simon Harper following an impressive round of 78 made up of matching halves of 39.

Round three of the men’s Winter Eclectic at Reay was a low-scoring affair, with Willie Williamson and Ali Simpson tied at the top of the leaderboard.

The weather limited opportunities for competitive golf over the past week at Reay, but there was some action on the course between the storms.

After a couple of weeks of inactivity due to the January weather, golfers were back in competitive action on a sunny Reay course.
