1400 pupils affected by Storm Pia school closures across Caithness and Sutherland
More than two dozen schools and nurseries across the Highlands were closed on Thursday after Storm Pia brought gale force winds and widespread disruption to the region.
The closures, which are mostly centred on northern Sutherland and Caithness, affect around 1400 pupils. Schools outside Sutherland and Caithness which are affected meanwhile, includ Kingussie Primary Nursery and Ardersier Primary Nursery.
The affected schools and nurseries are, in alphabetical order:

The school closures come amid widespread travel disruption, with many trains cancelled and ferries also affected.
Hundreds of homes have also been hit by power cuts in communities dotted across the north and the islands.
