50th anniversary lunch for Wick company that started as Osprey Electronics
A celebratory lunch was held at the Norseman Hotel on Tuesday, May 6, to mark the 50th anniversary of a Wick company.
Osprey Electronics started up in Wick in 1975 and was taken over in 2018 by Imenco UK Ltd, which has bases in America, Aberdeen and Norway along with agents throughout the world.
Six members of Imenco’s board of directors came over from Norway, including the owner, Geir Egil Østebøvik, to celebrate 50 years of manufacturing in Wick.
Wick’s provost, Jan McEwan, presented Geir Egil with a quaich and whisky in appreciation of Imenco Future Technologies’ long-standing contribution to the local economy and community development.
Willie Watt gave a speech and recognised the “dedication of the Caithness workforce and the achievement of products” being manufactured in Wick and shipped worldwide.
Dave Thomson, one of the original members of Osprey Electronics 50 years ago, gave an insight into the early days of the company.

Also present was Claire Wilson, senior development manager of Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
Imenco hopes to conduct an open day over the summer months for ex-employees and members of the public to attend.
