Motorists have been urged to be cautious on approach after a breakdown partially blocked the A9 between Berriedale and Helmsdale.

Traffic Scotland did not give a specific location when issuing the warning at around 7.10am, but its online map had the incident centred on the notorious Berriedale Braes.

Warning motorists to expected longer journey times, a Traffic Scotland spokesperson said: “The A9 is partially blocked, between Helmsdale and Berriedale, due to a broken down vehicle.

“Motorists are advised to approach with caution and expect longer than normal journey times. Further updates to follow as we get them.”
