Castletown man ‘needs help’ after smashing couple’s living room window
A Castletown man who smashed the living room window of a house belonging to a couple concerned about his dog was said to be in need of help, Wick Sheriff Court heard.
Colin MacNeill (40) admitted causing the damage and was made subject to supervision.
Sheriff Neil Wilson heard, previously, that the couple, who live across the street from the accused, in Calder Square, Castletown, sometimes looked after his dog. They became concerned for its welfare, on June 8, as it had been left inside for 24 hours.
The couple contacted MacNeill and he returned home and let the dog out.
Later, however, the couple were sitting watching television when their living room window shattered.
The woman was sitting nearby and narrowly missed getting splattered with glass fragments.
Sheriff Wilson commented that the couple must have been “terrified”.
The sheriff, who saw a background report on MacNeill, said that it advised that he “clearly needed help with his difficulties”.
The accused was made subject to a supervision order for a year as a direct alternative to prison and will require to pay the couple compensation of £100.
