Domestic abuser who struck twice in Wick banned from contacting victims

An Aberdeen man who fell out with his girlfriend and then a new partner more than three years later has been given a chance by a sheriff.

Kevin Wilson (33) was ordered to carry out 125 hours of unpaid community work at Wick Sheriff Court last week.

The first woman was on the receiving end of Wilson’s unacceptable behaviour on December 8, 2019.

Grant McLennan said that the couple had taken “a substantial amount of alcohol” when trouble flared around 1am after the accused rejected the woman’s suggestion that he sleep in the spare room of their then home in West Banks Terrace, Wick.

The fiscal depute added that Wilson grabbed hold of her and pushed her, causing her to fall to the floor striking her head.

The second assault on a different woman occurred on September 7, 2023, after Wilson and his new partner returned to their home in Green Road, Wick, after a disagreement in the town centre.

Mr McLennan said there was a “ruckus” and Wilson grabbed her and pushed her, causing her to fall to the floor and strike her head.

Sheriff Wilson gave Wilson, now living in Jopps Lane, Aberdeen, credit for his guilty pleas to both charges and a positive background report.

Wilson must complete his unpaid work – under supervision – within a year and comply with the requirements of the Caledonian Programme for men convicted of domestic abuse.

The sheriff also made the accused subject to two non-harassment orders banning him from any contact with the two women he admitted assaulting.
