Dounreay wins community award for pandemic response
Dounreay has been honoured in the annual Nuclear Skills Awards for its support to the community during the pandemic.
Community Award was accepted on behalf of the site by Dounreay managing director Mark Rouse, who praised everyone involved.
A film produced as part of the nomination can be seen here.
Mr Rouse said on collecting the award: “This recognises so many people who got involved. They’re still doing it now, helping with the vaccine roll-out.
"I am very aware we are celebrating an award in the middle of a pandemic and I would like to show appreciation to the NHS and first responders.”
Dounreay was among five finalists in the Community Award category of the 13th Nuclear Skills Awards, announced on Thursday night. The outcome was decided by a public vote.
The awards are organised by NSAN and Cogent Skills to recognise and celebrate exceptional individuals and companies in the nuclear sector in the UK.
