The funeral of a Wick woman who was killed in her Glasgow home last month is due to take place today in Dundee.

Marelle Sturrock was 29 weeks pregnant when she was found dead at a property on Jura Street, Glasgow, on April 25.

Police believe her partner David Yates, who was found dead at Mugdock Park on the outskirts of the city after an intensive search operation, was responsible for the 35-year-old's death.

Her family are planning a celebration of Marelle's life in Wick, though no date has yet been given.

Her parents, Colin and Lorna Sturrock, said in a statement released through Police Scotland in the days after the tragedy that they were devastated over the death of Marelle and their soon to be grandson, Jayden Sturrock.

“Marelle was the happiest person you could ever meet and was always looking to help others the best she could," they said.

“Marelle and her partner doted on each other, and this incident has come as a total shock to all who knew her."

Police Scotland reiterated this week that a report would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal over the deaths in due course.

The force is under investigation by the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC) in relation to the incident.

The funeral service – to which "all family and friends are respectfully invited" – takes place in Dundee crematorium, on Friday, May 26, at 12.30pm.

Flowers are requested from family members only, and donations can be made to various children's charities at the crematorium.
