A team of staff from a firm with branches throughout the Highlands has become the latest to organise a corporate blood donation.

“Instead of donating money, we thought that giving blood would be a great way to give something back to our community,” staff member Angela Rayman said.

“It takes so little time and effort but can help someone else enormously.

“The company is 30 years old this year and giving back to the community is really important to us all as a team.

“I’ve personally had lots of friends and family members who’ve needed treatment and could easily have relied on transfusions to support them.

“By playing our own part, we’re helping to insure it’s there for us in the long run and for our loved ones if it’s ever needed.”

She also sought to reassure other companies unsure about whether corporate donation could work for them.

“The whole process of booking as a group was really straight forward,” she said.

“I just sent an email to the local team, and we were given various options to suit.”

With more staff lined up to donate after the initial donations she added: “We definitely plan to make giving blood a regular event in the Munro and Noble diary.

“Knowing that every donation can potentially help to save or improve three lives, and our donations will be on a hospital shelf within 24 hours of our visit, ready to help someone, gives a huge sense of fulfilment.

“I’d say to anyone who hasn’t donated before or anyone who hasn’t given blood in a while to give the team a call or drop them an email to find out more.”

There are also benefits to be drawn from the experience for the workplace itself she added: “The whole process is far easier than you might think, it’s something fun to do together away from the workplace and it’s a really great team building exercise.”
