A Halkirk woman stopped drinking during a night out thinking she would be okay to drive home in the early hours.
However, Charlotte Hather (36) was still found to be over the limit after being stopped by police officers in Sir George’s Street, Thurso, on October 27, Wick Sheriff Court heard on Tuesday.
Hather failed a roadside breath test and a follow-up test at Thurso police station revealed a level of 29 mcg – the legal limit is 22 mcg.
Sheriff Neil Wilson took into account the accused’s low reading and her personal circumstances.
He fined Hather, of Braal Terrace, Halkirk, £200 and banned her for a year.
