Lyth Arts host film premiere of ‘Words on the Wind’ by local poet and playwright George Gunn

Caithness arts organisation Lyth Arts Centre (LAC) has announced a screening of a new film by local poet George Gunn called Words on the Wind.

Words On The Wind is a film about Caithness featuring the people of Caithness and the poetry of Caithness. The film focuses on a series of poems about specific places, performed by local people and recorded at the locations which inspired them. Words On The Wind celebrates Caithness as a poetic landscape and is described as "one big film-poem of Caithness".

Ownership, management, land use, renewable and human energy, as well as the landscape and seascape itself, are the main themes addressed in the film. As Caithness makes the transition from a large atomic installation to the continued development of wind power, the effect on human culture and this change is charted by the people themselves in the communities they live in.

The premiere is set to take place on Friday, November 10 at 7pm in LAC. Tickets are free but booking is essential. Please head over to LAC’s website to book your place: lytharts.org.uk/event/words-on-the-wind-film-screening/

George developed and produced the film during his time as a CAIR (Caithness Artists in Residence) artist for LAC with local filmmaker Steven Gunn.
