Places of interest around Sandside, Reay, have been highlighted in a new illustrated sign at the harbour car park.

Caithness West Community Council was responsible for providing the information board which was designed by Duncan McLachlan of Studiograff.

Community council secretary Pat Groves explained: “The previous sign was almost obliterated. As we have a lot of visitors travelling on the North Coast 500 and visiting the harbour, we thought it would be good to replace the old sign with a bright, informative one about Sandside Bay.”

The new information board covers local history from the Vikings and Picts to Dounreay and Vulcan, as well as mentioning the harbour itself, Sandside House, Reay Golf Club, surfing opportunities in the local area and some of the wildlife that may be seen.
