New Stagecoach app to help journey planning
A NEW app has been launched which aims to make bus journeys easier for passengers.
Stagecoach North Scotland’s (SNS) Stagecoach Bus app includes a simple journey planning tool using interactive maps and the smartphone’s GPS system. People can also find out information on journey length and available fare options.
But the company warns urgent action is needed on worsening road congestion if bus passengers are to get the full benefit of the new technology.
SNS operations director Graeme Leslie said: “In today’s fast-paced world, time is really precious. Our new app will make bus travel easier and give people more time to focus on the other important things in their lives.
“What our new app can’t do is solve the growing problem of road congestion. We need local authorities to take action because faster and more reliable bus journeys, fewer cars and less pollution is better for everyone in our communities.”
Other app features include mobile ticketing, allowing people to buy and download tickets straight to their smartphone, and giving passengers access to live running times of the buses they are going to catch.
