NHS Highland area sees no new positive Covid-19 tests for second day running

THE number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has remained unchanged in the NHS Highland area for the second day in a row.

NHS Highland returned no fresh positive tests for the virus, against a backdrop of just a dozen new confirmed cases across Scotland as a whole.

The number of people who have tested positive in the health board region since the start of the outbreak remains at 340.

However, the number of those with the virus who were being treated in the region's hospitals last night increased slightly – rising to nine from eight.

Nationally, there have been 15,665 positive tests for Covid-19 across Scotland since the outbreak began, of whom 623 were being treated in hospital last night. Fifteen of those were in intensive care. This compared to 641 hospital cases and 15 intensive care patients 24 hours earlier.

The number of people who tested positive who subsequently died has increased by a dozen – rising to 2434.

There were again no positive tests in the Northern Isles or Western Isles.

NHS Grampian also had no freshly confirmed cases of the virus (total number 1287), while the number of people being treated for the virus in its hospitals fell from 62 to 60.
