RUNNING group Thurso parkrun, working with Thurso Squash Club, has installed a publicly accessible defibrillator in the front foyer at the town's squash courts.

Funding for the life-saving equipment was received from Dounreay Employees Charity Fund, Thurso Squash Club, North Highland Harriers and Thurso parkrun, and it will now be available to the public 24/7 at the location close to the popular Thurso boating pond and riverside.

Donna Stewart, event director of Thurso parkrun, said: "Thurso parkrun needs to have access to a defibrillator to allow parkrun to happen each week and this gives us access without relying on the leisure centre.

"Additionally with Thurso Squash Club we have provided the Thurso community with a piece of life-saving equipment. We believe this is only the second defibrillator in Thurso that is available to the public 24/7."
