Prison warning over Wick assault

A Wick man who admitted an assault was made subject to supervision, as a direct alternative to a prison sentence.
Alexander Macalpine (33), who has a record of offending. was warned by Sheriff Joseph Platt on Wednesday that any breach of the order would result in a custodial sentence.
The court at Wick heard previously that an argument at a house in Wellington Avenue, Wick, on September 19, spilled onto the street.
Macalpine, of Henrietta Street, Wick, one of a group involved in the altercation, punched Murray Clelland on the head.
The accused's progress in the 24-month supervision order will be reviewed in four months.
