Sheriff issues arrest warrant for Wick man facing driving charge

A sheriff has issued an arrest warrant for an offender who appears to be reluctant to face a minor road traffic offence.

The case against Vaisle Cazacu (32), of Brown Place, Wick, was first called in November last year.

Sheriff Neil Wilson issued the warrant last week.

The latest efforts to serve him with the paperwork for a charge of driving a minibus while using a mobile phone – in High Street, Wick, on July 11, last year – are continuing to prove unsuccessful.

Updating Sheriff Neil Wilson, fiscal depute Grant McLennan reported “no joy” to Sheriff Neil Wilson and suggested: “The accused may be making himself scarce.”

Sheriff Wilson, who commented on the age of the case and added that the offence was of a level that would normally have been dealt with by a Justice of the Peace Court, granted a motion by Mr McLennan for a warrant.
