COMMUNITY groups are being urged to take the opportunity of getting their hands on a share of £1 million.

The SSE’s Sustainable Development Fund opens this week for the second round of funding.

The fund, which is provided as part of SSE’s community benefit programme for its onshore wind farms, will consider applications of more than £10,000 from non-profit making organisations, community groups and charities with priority given to projects neighbouring SSE’s wind farms.

Groups have until January 20 to register an interest and then have until February 17 to submit a full application, with funding decisions made public in April 2016.
