Store wars at Tesco with blockbuster inspired Xmas video
A STAR Wars inspired video which appears to show Darth Vader taking over Tesco in Wick has been uploaded to YouTube.
The store’s staff came to work on Friday and Saturday for filming of their annual Christmas video and this year the theme chosen was Star Wars to celebrate the release of the latest film in the series.
Store manager Andy Stewart was creative designer, writer and director of the event which saw various staff step forward to play the roles of the film’s main characters as well as some to add a festive touch to the spectacle.
Tesco Wick – A Sith-Mas Carol saw Mr Stewart take the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi while Billy Duchart, the lead fresh manager, played Darth Vader, casting his dark spell over the store.
Paul Queen, manager of the phone shop, was cameraman, second director, film editor and producer and said the film had been great fun to make.
“At a previous store Andy worked in they used to make Christmas videos so when he moved here as store manager he decided we’d make them too,” he said.

“Last year we made a couple which were really popular so we thought we had to do something this year and Star Wars was the obvious choice for a theme.
“The story follows Darth Vader who rules the supermarket with an iron fist but the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future visit him to try to change his ways.
“He does change his ways in the end and becomes a much better manager, doing a bit of dancing with the pupils of North school as they sing their Christmas carols in the store along with music from the Salvation Army Band.”
Mr Queen, who played the ghost of Christmas future, said lots of managers and staff were involved in putting the film together.
“It was really quite enjoyable to do and a good laugh for the team and customers. It was a good bit of fun and had a great feeling of community spirit,” he said.
