Specially created children's rainbow biscuit baking kits to help the NHS have gone on sale at Tesco stores, including those in Wick and Thurso.

All profits from the biscuits will go towards providing care packages – including items such as toiletries and toothpaste – for frontline health service workers through SalutetheNHS.org, allowing the NHS to focus on saving lives during the Covid-19 epidemic.

Each pack contains a tube of white icing and a sachet of multicoloured sprinkles which youngsters can apply to grooves in the rainbow-shaped biscuits and then decorate as they wish.

Tesco food developer Kaysha Keane, who helped design the biscuits, said: “Not only will the biscuits raise money for care packages for our heroic NHS frontline workers but they will also raise awareness among youngsters of the life-saving work being carried out by them.

“The rainbow has now become a symbol of hope and support for our brave NHS workers, especially among children who have been painting pictures to put in their windows.

“We hope that parents may also use the opportunity of helping their youngsters make the biscuits to discuss the amazing work being carried out by our NHS.”
