Thurso town centre to have Saturday market with marquee and pop-up stands
Plans are being made to establish a Saturday market in Thurso for artists and crafters this summer, and it is hoped local food producers will also take part.
Thurso Community Development Trust (TCDT) secured money from the Town Centre Fund for a marquee and 10 pop-up market stands.
TCDT development officer Lindsay Morrison explained: "We hope that the stands and the marquee space will be utilised by our talented local artists and crafters to enable them to showcase and sell their work within the Thurso Town Market.
"The market will be situated in a town centre location, as it is envisaged that this will complement the already valued and established local businesses while allowing new and exciting vendors to share the beautiful items they have to offer.
"As well as a variety of crafters, the market would welcome a variety of local food suppliers to take part and sell their produce – perhaps with the option to feed the shoppers on the day, to keep their energy levels up, as they browse the other market stalls.

"As we emerge from what has been an extremely difficult period during the most recent lockdown, the market will provide potential stall holders with increased selling opportunities, as well as providing shoppers with a safe outdoor space to browse locally made items and gifts."
Thurso Town Market will run on Saturdays in July and August – the proposed dates are July 10 and 24, and August 7 and 21.
In the lead-up to the market dates there will also be town activities on offer.
TCDT is asking those keen to take part in the market to note their interest using an application form which can be found on the trust's website.
