Watten earth's all that racket? It's just 50 Blue Angels bikers hitting the village
The quiet Caithness village of Watten played host to a bevy of hardcore bikers as around 50 Blue Angels Motorcycle Club (BAMC) members rumbled their way along the A882 yesterday afternoon.
The Blue Angels is one of the largest and most powerful outlaw biker clubs in the UK and was formed in Glasgow back in 1963. There are a total of six chapters in Scotland and four in England.
BAMC Scotland secretary Davie Cairns was one of the team at Thursday afternoon's quick pit stop in Watten and said: "It's just one of our annual runs. We came from Edinburgh to here and we're heading to Ullapool now." Davie said that there was a support club that was going along for the ride called Tribe Edinburgh MCC that helped out with breakdowns and other issues experienced along the way. All had gone very well for their annual run though, he added.
The BAMC has a fearsome reputation, however. A violent turf war recently broke out between the Blue Angels and another outlaw biker gang called the Nomads which resulted in an Angels member being caged for seven years for attempted murder.
After failing to find the local pub open, the bikers mounted their powerful bikes and headed off west towards Thurso.
