A volunteer is being sought to publicise the work of Wick's RNLI crew in the role of lifeboat press officer.

The post involves building and maintaining good working relationships with the local press as well as radio and television, keeping the community informed of operational activities by reporting newsworthy rescues, lifeboat station events and RNLI campaigns.

Established in 1848, Wick lifeboat station operates an all-weather Trent class lifeboat. Crew members in Wick have been recognised by the RNLI for their lifesaving achievements 11 times.

A spokesperson for the RNLI said: "Crewed by volunteers, funded by public donations and answering the call of help day or night whatever the weather, the RNLI has an incredible story to tell. Could you be the person to help tell the story of how volunteers in your community are working to save lives at sea?"

Anyone interested in the role can contact Natasha Bennett, the regional media officer for Scotland, at natasha_bennett@rnli.org.uk or apply through the RNLI website.

Good communication, writing and IT skills are required.
