SCOTTISH indie rock band The View have announced a gig in Wick this April as part of their UK tour.

The Dundee four-piece will perform at the Assembly Rooms on April 23 in a show promoted by Highland-based promoters TwentyTen.

It has been more than a decade since The View hit the big time, buoyed by a brace of anthemic tunes and a loyal following.

Singles Wasted Little DJs and Superstar Tradesman, which stormed into the charts, were followed by debut album Hats Off To The Buskers entering the charts at number one and scoring a Mercury Prize nomination.

The band’s latest record, Ropewalk – their fifth studio album – marked their 10th anniversary last year.

Produced by Albert Hammond Jr, of The Strokes, and Gus Oberg, it features lead single Marriage, Psychotic and House Of Cues.

Tickets for the Wick concert are on sale from www.fatsoma.com/twentyten and will also be available from McAllans in Wick from 10am tomorrow.
