Two senior and two junior shooters from Caithness were part of Scottish teams that took part in a Scotland versus North Island New Zealand postal competition.

Hugh Simpson, Wick Old Stagers, and Robbie Campbell, Halkirk were part of the 15-strong senior team, while Sophie Campbell and Robbie Levack, both Halkirk, were in the junior team.

The match was contested at 25 yards indoor and was held at the Balerno and Currie Rifle Club, Edinburgh.

New Zealand will complete their match in September, so the Scottish scores have not been released as yet.

Hugh’s son David and Pentland’s Pete Richard also qualified for the squad but could not attend due to work commitments.

The squad boasted no fewer than six ex-Commonwealth Games athletes and a current Olympic Games athlete, Seonaid McIntosh, who will be competing in Paris.
