Former Hearts and Scotland striker John Robertson will be visiting Thurso’s four schools at the beginning of next month before taking part in training sessions for primary-age youngsters.

He will host question-and-answer sessions for High Life Highland in the three primaries as well as Thurso High on Wednesday, December 4, with coaching planned for the early evening through AG Coaching.

John is the most prolific goalscorer in Hearts’ history, with 214 league goals. He scored a record 27 competitive goals against Edinburgh rivals Hibs.

More recently he had two spells as Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager and was also the club’s sporting director.

Alyn Gunn, who runs AG Coaching, said: “I speak with John a couple of times a week. He has been a great friend to me as well as a great mentor, so it will be good to welcome him back to Thurso to hear his stories, which I am sure the youngsters will enjoy.

“The training sessions in the evening are fully booked, so we are lucky to have him up again and I am sure everyone will have a great time in his company.”

The visit is sponsored by Robbie Fraser and the Park Hotel.

The training sessions are in Thurso High School, with pupils in P1 to P3 taking part from 4.30pm to 5.20pm and the P4-P7 age group from 5.30pm to 6.20pm.

There will be prizes on offer for the player of each session.

John was joined by former Hearts player Jose Quitongo for a weekend of coaching with children in Thurso in May this year, also organised by AG Coaching.
