Young Scorries set for Highland League U18 championship play-off
Wick Academy’s under-18s are one game away from being crowned Highland League champions in their age group.
The young Scorries secured the SHFL Under 18 North title earlier this month and now take on the East section winners, Formartine United, in the championship play-off.
The match takes place on Sunday in Alness, with a 1pm kick-off.
Coach Derek Shearer said: “We’re looking forward to the game. It’ll be a tough challenge against the SHFL Under 18 East league winners but it’s a challenge that we relish.
“The boys have been outstanding this season and we go into the game with confidence that we can pull off a result. We’ll have a big following down from Caithness and Orkney to cheer on the boys.”

The Academy U18s rounded off their North section campaign with a 4-1 victory over Lossiemouth at Harmsworth Park on April 13 and were presented with the trophy afterwards.
They had already been confirmed as champions after their closest challengers, Balloan Thistle, lost a game they needed to win if they were to stay in touch.
