Chisholm and Cameron are April Medal winners at Reay





Performance of the week at Reay Golf Club went to Sandy Chisholm, who fired a fantastic round of 82 for nett 62 to win the men’s April Medal, with a birdie at the fifth helping him to the victory.

A brace of birdies at the 14th and 15th helped John O’Brien to second place overall after a round of 76 for nett 69. Tyler Gordon had the best scratch score of the day, a level-par 69 which included birdies at the fourth and sixth holes.

In the women’s April Medal, sponsored by MacDonald Landscaping and Groundcare, Carole Cameron took the silverware following a fine round of 93 for nett 69.

Julie Minchin took the runner-up spot on nett 71, with club captain Carol Paterson completing the podium places, finishing a stroke further back on nett 72 after a solid round of 83.

In the Corfin Bogey competition, players used their handicap allowance to take on the course in a matchplay format, and countback was required after three players finished 1up.

In the final analysis it was Willie Paton who took the trophy following a fine round of 82. David R Craig finished in second place, with a birdie at the 12th helping Ian Farquhar to third.

A birdie at the sixth helped Colin Struthers to a tremendous winning score of 40 points in the latest round of the North Point Distillery Senior Stableford competition.

Willie Williamson birdied the 14th on his way to 38 points and second place. Steady rounds from Stuart Greig and Malcolm Clasper saw them take third and fourth places respectively after both finished on 35 points.

Fred Groves bagged the nearest-the-pin prize from the sponsor.

The course also saw another hole in one as Donald Mowat aced the par-three 15th hole with a perfectly struck 8 iron.

This Saturday sees the course host the ladies’ Navcommsta competition, while on Sunday the men will compete in round one of the Dunnett Cup.

Entries are also available for the Ronnie Wallace Open, sponsored by Norbloc Construction, which will be held on Saturday, April 26. Players can enter via the club website.
